An Evening of Family Favorites and Fun

This is a PTA-sponosored, library program that encourages families to read together.

This program is held during the late winter or early spring. Families register and set reading goals for each member. A reading time record is kept and later turned into the library.The program culminates in an evening of entertainment at school followed by dessert.

 

Assemblies

Assemblies are scheduled throughout the year for the students at Willett. For the 2009-10 school year, the Crocker Art Ark and the B Street theater group are coming to school.

Back-to-School Picnic

The annual Back-To-School Picnic is sponsored by the PTA and is held in the Sycamore Park for Willett families and friends. It will be held Monday, August 23, 2010.

Every family brings their own picnic supper and a dessert to share. This is a fun opportunity to meet new friends and visit with classmates. Class lists are posted. Notification of the Picnic will arrive in the mail at the end of the summer or check this website for information.

 

Battle of the Books

Battle-of-the-Books is a library program for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Battles are held in the late spring.

Students form their own teams of four members each. All teams register in the library and must have teacher signatures. The librarian selects 8 titles that will be read by all teams. Titles are not announced until the program is activated. Battles are scheduled allowing 6-8 weeks for reading time. At the battles, questions from each book are asked. Teams decide on a group answer. The highest scoring four teams then meet other highest scoring teams from Patwin and Chavez elementary schools. These three schools exchange titles for a total of six books for Battle questioning.

 

Casino Night & Auction 2011

The Willett Casino Night & Auction will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011. There will be dinner, games of chance and a silent auction. Classroom art from students will be included in the silent auction. The 2010 event raised funds to restore Willett's reading support program and computer instructional specialist time.
